High Street Make-up Haul

Make up Haul

Make up palettes and blushers galore! I had a day off on Friday and had a desire to go crazy make-up shopping for the first time in a while.

I got new glasses last week and since I started to wear them I have been more aware then ever of my eyebrows and the need to do more with them. So the Sleek Brow kit was on my shopping list as it is a dupe for the Benefits one and I wanted to try something new but with a friendlier price tag.

I also picked up 3 eye shadow palettes. Lately I have felt like I don’t have any day time eye-shadows that I love, all my favs have been super pretty but shimmery night out colours. I am hoping that these 3 can become work day staples. I picked the MUA Elysium Palatte, which I think is a dupe for Naked 3. I have had a quick play with it and really like the pinky toned colours so far. Although some may be a bit to shimmery for work but I cant be all work now can I!

MUA Elysium Palette

Also got the Make up Revolution Redemption Palette Essential mattes palette. As it says on the the tin- no shimmer in sight! Third is the Sleek Au Natural 601 with 12 neutral shades, some with shimmer most with out, I think this is my least favourite of the three I picked up but I will report back.

Picked up two blushes, did an audit of my blusher stash recently and noticed that I mostly have pink shades and really wanted to try so more coral coloured one. The Revlon, Classy Coral got the honour of being my first coral shade. Also grade a Makeup revolution blush in Treat as it was only £1!

Rimmel Coral Blush

Repurchased the Rimmel Stay Matter powder as it is brilliant and so affordable! Only thing I do wish is that it had a mirror so could be taken out and about more easily. Finally,  I really wanted a new concealer, with base type products I am pretty unadventurous but after quite a bit of research on the bloggersphere I chose the Maybelline, the Eraser Eye in light.

Mini High Street Haul

Drugstore Haul

I know what you are thinking, I thought UmbrellaMonday was on a spending ban, and you would be right, I just had a few moments of weakness, and it was my birthday weekend so thought what the hey I’m gonna treat myself. And I could have gone ALOT more crazy….so you could say this is really proof of my self restraint…. : )

It all started with a trip to  Boots pick up a Sleek blusher but the store in town doesn’t have a stand for them, so ended up browsing what else was on offer. Picked up a few things from brands I rarely buy from.

Grabbed the Collection Bronze Glow Ultimate. I am naturally very pale so always been a little scared of bronzer, as in the past they have been far too dark for my skin. As such I have been very loyal to my BodyShop Bronzer since I discovered it offer lighter shade options. Anyhoo I swatched this in store and am hopeful it will give the sunkissed glow promised.

Next, I grabbed a few Revlon products, I wanted Colourburst Lacquer Balm and after much deliberation picked 105 which is a lovely soft/subtle pink. It was two products for £10 in Boots, so I figured I might as well get something else. Picked up Revlon Lash Potion, Mascara, which should have been £9.99 so bargain to get it for just a few pounds. I haven’t opened this yet as few mascara on the go I want to finish, but will let you know how I get on when I do.

I also popped to the Yankee Candle Store as I wanted some scented tea lights- went for Summer Scoop which is lovely Strawberries and Cream scent- perfect for summer. I wanted the tea lights as I picked up the cutest set of 4 Sherry Glasses for £3 in a charity shop  which will make the nicest candle holders. Tried them out this evening and  they look fab on my mantle-place, they will look even better come the dark winter nights.

Talking of charity shop finds, I also found a total bargain of a dress. Brand new with tags navy blue lace party dress from Dorothy Perkins for only £6! I shared a pic on instagram (Umbrellamonday is my user name) if you fancy a noisy.

What have you been buying lately? Are a charity shop bargain lover too?

Dubai Sephora Make-up Haul #2

Sephora Haul

I shared the first part of my Sephora Haul from my Dubai holiday in a post early this week and showed you all the Marc Jacobs items I picked up. Here is part two  of the Make-up Haul and  the other bits I picked up- I went a bit crazy I know, think I need to ban myself from any more purchases for a while!

Sephora and Bare Minerals Eye Shadow Palette

First up, I picked up the, Bare Minerals READY Eyeshadow quad: The A List.  I was drawn to this as I love the Bare Minerals Mineral foundation and have not tried the READY shadows before. I also dont don’t have many purple/pink shades so is a bit different for me.

Next, I picked up from Sephora’s on range, Spring in Soho Eye, Cheek and Lip Palette. It has a lovely contract of soft pastels and nudes in a travel friendly container. It has 8 eye shades with 4 lip colours and  a blush tucked in a drawer under the eyeshadows. It looked like a good one to shove in the work make-up bag for use before Friday drinks as it is lovely and compact.

OPI Liquid Sand Nail Polish

So, OPI nail polishes were much cheaper than elsewhere so I was instantly drawn to their stand. I hadn’t tried the Liquid Sand polishes before  but picked up Tiffany Case a wonderful bright blue glitter – everyone should own it! .I loved it so much when I picked up more from the range the next day. Alcatraz Rocks, Get your Number and Stay the Night were lucky enough to be picked.  Also picked up Purple with a Purpose from the standard range.

Sephora Bronzer and Make-up Brushes

Also bought from a shimmer bronzer in Sunkissed bronze from the Sephora range. I have fair skin and this seems to suit me well, bit of colour and a touch of shimmer.

Finally, I picked up 3 new brushes as my collection needed some additions. Got a Concealer brush, a rounded crease brush and a lip brush.

Not from Sephora but also purchased in Dubai- this time at the airport. Mac Lustre Lipstick in See Sheer and Revlon, Just Bitten Kissable in Sweetheart Valentine.

As I mentioned before I had a great trip and thoroughly enjoyed my shop in Sephora cant wait to use everything!

Dubai Sephora Haul #1: Marc Jacobs Make-up

IMG_0943

Hello! I am back from an wonderful holiday with my boyfriend to the UAE, had such a brilliant, relaxing but fun packed time. We were in both Abu Dhabi and Dubai- I might do a post about the trip if people are interested?

I of course visited Sephora while there, went to the one in the Dubai Mall- which is the best shopping mall ever. I thought I would divide my haul into two parts as I bought quite alot (oops!)and I think the Marc Jacobs products are soo beautiful that they deserve their own post.

I was desperate to take a look at the Marc Jacob’s make-up as you can’t get into in the UK and I love Marc Jacobs Perfume (you can see my collection here) so had high hopes for it.

Firstly the packaging of all of their products is amazing, so simple, sleek yet sophisticated. Each one comes in a little cloth pouch which I haven’t included in the photo.

Marc Jacobs Pressed Powder

My first purchase was the Perfection Powder in Bique which promises to be a featherweight foundation. The case has a huge mirror which I love- will be great for make-up on the go. I have only tried this as a finishing powder so far and loved it.

Marc Jacob Shameless Blush

The Shameless Bold Blush in Reckless is wonderful subtle pink with a slight purple-ish undertone.

Marc Jacobs Studded Kiss lipgloss

This lipgloss  from the Lust for Lacquer in Studded Kiss is gorgeous a beautiful dark berry with a bit of shimmer.  I have only worn in once so far and loved it.

Mark Jacob Lolita

The Lotlita Eye shadow palette caught my attention on a number of blogs and I loved it up close. My lovely boyfriend was kind enough to buy it for me. It holds 7 neutral colours in a slimline case-3 matte/4 shimmer, on a first play with the colours I think it will be a new favourite for everyday.

I suspect that full reviews on all these products will follow. The rest of Sephora Dubai haul will be up on Thursday.

Drugstore Make-up Haul

Popped into the shops for a peek at the weekend only to be suckered in my the various deals at Boots and Superdrug- before I knew it I had a lovely collection of new products escorting me home. Grabbed a few products that the blogging world is raving about and a few other pretty things that caught my eye.

Eyeshadow HaulFirst up, eye shadows, it was buy1get1half price on No7 so I picked up their Trio Eye Shadow Palette, Good Earth and the single Matte Maroon. It has been a while since I have used No7 and one of their eye shadow trios used to be a favourite so looking forward to playing with these. Nice neutral colours in the trio, one with a bit of shimmer, all compact together for easy travel if needed. Think adding the Matte Maroon with the trio will create a fab smokey eye.

Maybelline Color Tattoo in On & On Bronze: You will have no doubt read the countless reviews on this as well, figured I’d find out  what all the fuss  is about.

In terms of lips I picked up:

Maybelline Baby Lips in Peach Kiss:  Another one I decided to jump on the bandwagon with. When I tried it out boyfriend said whooo peach, so the scent has received the kiss of approval.

Maybelline Colorsensational Shine Gloss in Berry, Not usually the colour I am drawn to but it swatched really nice and there was an offer on Maybelline products. Have been wearing it quite a bit since I bought it so will be a full review soon.

L’oreal Glam Shine Satin Splash: I have wanted to try these for a while, since a few folks suggested they were dupes for a similar YSL lip product. Went for quite a natural colour so can wear for work.

Finally, I got a free lipstick voucher through my Boots advantage card after my last purchase at Clinique so got the Long Last Lipstick in All heart, as I said don’t usually go for red lips so will be a bit different for me.

New make-up brushes

If you caught my last post you will know I love my RealTechniques Powder brush, so when I saw that Superdrug had the range at Buy1get1halfprice, I decided to add to my collection. Picked up the Shading brush and Blush brush. My first impression? They are both fab!

IMG_0287

L’Oreal le blush in Sandalwood Rose; felt I should get a new blush to go with my new brush! Recommended for fair skin tones, this a lovely pink shade. Also, I have just discovered there is a wee compartment underneath the blush with a brush and more importantly a mirror- fab extra for make-up on the go

Maybelline Baby Skin, I know another hyped up product but all you bloggers made me buy it! I love my Benefit Porefessional, but a cheaper alternative would be good for my wallet so decided to give it a go. I will report back!

Botanics Hydrating Eye Cream– have been thinking that perhaps I should start worrying about taking better care of my eye areas, sooner I start operation no-wrinkles the better? This one promises a nourishing cream that hydrates and reduces the appearance of fine lines to reveal more radiant skin.

Finally, I picked up on nail polish Maybelline Color Show in Burgundy Kiss which is actually a gift for a friend. She is usually drawn to dark navy/blacks and I thought a dark maroon would be something a wee bit different but in keeping with what she likes

Let me know if you hit the shops this weekend, what was your top buy? Comment below or tweet me!

P.S If you need ideas of valentines, I have been pinning away cute things on my Pinterest board.

I will be posting Tuesday,Thursdays & Sundays!

Mini High Street / Drugstore Haul

Drugstore Haul

Wanted to share a mini drugstore/high street as picked up a few things I am excited to use. It was just a quick trip round Superdrug as my friends were up for a browse of the shops after a spot Afternoon Tea and all their purchases made me want to pick up a wee something too!

Rimmer Loafer Lover for you

First up is Rimmel London’s Lasting Finish Nail Polish in 405: Loafer Lover For You (£3.69) my friend was wearing this when we met and it instantly caught my eye. It is a beautiful rich bright blue with a wonderful shine. I have lots of other colours from this range, they always paint on easily and last well. Can’t wait to try this, I will get a picture up when I do!

IMG_0149

Next is the Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder. (£3.99) I have read alot of positive chatter about this on the blogsphere and finally got round to picking this up. To be used on top of my foundation to set and hopefully increase wear time. I went for the shade 001 Transparent.

Rimmel eyeshadow paint

It was a 3 for 2 on Rimmel products at Superdrug so of course i had to pick something else. I was very tempted to get another nail polish but decided I should resist and try something new. I picked this Scandeleyes, Eye Shadow Paint in Rich Russett (£4.99). To be honest I hadn’t heard of this product before, but liked it when swatched.

Swatched Rimmel Scandaleyes

It is metallic when first applied but blends to a more semi-matte which I liked. I don’t think i would wear the un-blended colour but love it when smudged.

Rimmel Lip Butter

Finally, I bought a Revon Lip Butter in 001 Pink Truffle (£7.99). I love the Lip butter range, they glide on with nourishing feel of lip balm and have a nice colour pay-off. I though this colour was nice for everyday and would be suitable for the office.

As I mentioned this trip followed afternoon tea with the girls, I tweeted  a pic of the feast of cakes, pastries, tray bakes and sandwiches we enjoyed if you are interested. I really love afternoon tea, very glad it is in fashion at the moment as it means so many more places offer it! Especially love it when served with a cheeky glass of fizz or cocktails!
