Things I wish I had for holiday

Things I wish I had for holiday

So you may have gathered from recent posts, I am on my holidays..whoop! Thought I would do a quick wishlist of a few items I owed I had packed in my suitcase for the trip.

These Blue Sandals caught my eye, love my black havianas (they are the most reliable flipflops I ever owned-I literally wore my first pair every day for a year when I was in Australia and they lasted!) but these are soo pretty and nicer with a dress.

The Marc Jacobs bag caught my eye as it would be amazing bag for the beach or perhaps for sunbathing/cocktails on a yacht.

While picking a polish to paint my toes I realized I don’t have a hot hot pink in my collection anymore. I love Essie and this one caught my eye.

I am not a confident swimsuit wearer, in fact I hate it! The dresses included are those I think are perfect to throw on over a swimsuit if you want to go to the bar/leave the pool area. I tend to pop one of these on while sitting on loungers too. I do not tan and would rather look like a  beached whale in a dress then a rather red lobster! (Black/White one, Flowery one/Blue one)

Ever since I had my bag stolen on holiday, I always  travel with a ‘holiday purse’ as replacing everything in your everyday wallet is a very long process and loosing all you wee bits (like ticket stumps etc) makes you cry. I though this Kate Spade purse with ‘Anything to declare’ across the front is beautiful in it simplicity.

Finally, I thought these two passport covers were so pretty. I love passport covers, don’t know why. I do feel that you can only own one at once though and I do have a rather lovely one right now….but maybe for next holidays. Black and White one looks  so stylish, I think the Kate Spade Happily ever after one is technically meant to be wedding related but the unmarried can live happily ever after to no?

Normal service/posts will resume when I am back but hope you like this one all the same even is different from the now.

Save the World, No Plastic Bags

One of my New Years Resolutions was to be greener. I think part of this is making an effort to refuse plastic bags while shopping. To do this you need be organised and have an alternative way to carry them. So I have been on  the hunt for a couple new shoppers which can be easily stuffed into my handbag when I hit the shops and look fab when used to carry my purchases.  Which one would you pick?

My New Fendi Sunglasses

Fendi Sunglasses

Short post to share my lovely new sunglasses with you. I am off to Dubai and Abu Dhabi very soon (tres excited!). In preparation . I have always loved big sunglasses and this Fendi pair instantly caught my eye. The price stung a bit but I loved them and will wear them on ever holiday between now and……forever-ish! (Also, given that I need them to see, I figure this where I should invest my money.)

I wear glasses everyday, so bought them at Duncan & Todd opticians so it was easy to have prescription lens put into the frames. I have needed new frames with an up-to-date lens for a long time now, but I really hate glasses shopping! Mainly as I can’t see properly when wearing the store frames so have to do endless nose to mirror peering, while getting my boyfriend/friend to take picture upon picture on my phone so I can put my own glasses back on (then off again, then on, then off again) to see how they look. Luckily, as I said I will be wearing this pair for a good while so won’t have to repeat the experience anytime soon.

OOTD- Date Night

Valentines Day Outfit for dinner and drinks.

Thought I would share with you my outfit for my date with my boyfriend for Valentines.  We went out for dinner to  lovely little place  that does great food but is not super fancy so no black tie required!  I wanted something which was nice but not all out party dress. I had been trying to avoid red as hate a cliché but decided that I love this dress/wanted to wear it so who cares! 🙂

The dress was bought on sale in House of Fraser a month or so ago . It is one of those dresses that you instantly love when you try it on because it suits your body (well mine anyway) perfectly. I have also found it to  really versatile, it can be worn for drinks or teamed with leggings/boots & a cardigan for a casual afternoon in the pub.

On Friday, I added black tights and black Kurt Geiger heels to make it ready for a night out.  Hummed and hayed about the handbag- love my Mulberry Clutch holds everything you really need on a regular night out but it lacks the space for packing away winter warmers that are required at this time of year, but in the end style won over practical considerations!

 Heart Necklace

Finished the outfit with a necklace made from a Vinyl record that I picked up at a craft fair in Edinburgh. Added simple bracelets and  owl  stud earrings from Accessorize for a wee bit more bling. Included what I had on my nails in Sunday’s post if you are interested.

Had a wonderful evening, fab bottle of Merlot, yummy food at dinner and then a few drinks in the Irish bar. Only downside was the rain, hair was ruined travelling from  my flat to the restaurant! The perils of Scottish weather, oh to live in a sunnier climates!

Let me know if you like OOTD type posts from me, as I can do more or less!

I post every Tuesday,Thursday & Sunday.

OOTD- Evening Wedding Invite

OOTD- wedding

This is my first outfit of the day (or should say night) post as I fancied sharing my outfit and make-up choices for a wedding I attended on Saturday.  It was an evening invite so I went for a more party look than formal wedding attire.

The dress is from New Look and is perfect for Ceilidh dancing as it catches the air in a twirl for a little flick. The black bag is from Accessorize and  has a detachable strap so it can start the night as a clutch and become a cross-body if needed for the trip home- you can also squish a pair of flats into it if needed. My scarf/wrap is a  light bird printed fabric also from Accessorize.

OOTD Jewellery

I love that weddings allow a bit of head bling and I added a small feathered hairclip from Accessorize. The silver earrings are from a lovely little Jewelers in Edinburgh called Annie Smith and I picked the bracelet up in Forever 21 awhile back

These glittery pair are from Dune and after a few nights out are finally becoming comfortable to wear- lasted the whole night of dancing with heels on!

For make-up I went with a simple look as I had knew the day of the wedding was jam packed and I would not have much time to get ready. Also as a rum tasting class was my lunchtime activity, I was a wee bit concerned I might be worse for wear come wedding time. In the end, I was very glad of my organisation and quick make-up look, as due to the onslaught of rain and the impossibility of securing a taxi  when the heavens open;  I only got home 30 minutes before I was due to be picked up for the wedding! Cue super speedy hair/make-up/dress.

For my base, I used the Benefit Porefessional Primer, followed by the YSL Touche Eclat foundation,  YSL Touche Eclat under the eyes and my Rimmel Stay Matte Powder to set. Added my Bodyshop Bronzer in light matte to finish off. For eyes I used my YSL Pure Chromatics palette which gave a lovely sophisticated shimmer to my party look. Mascara was my favourite Badgal Lash from Benefit, as along with making my lashes look great it can be relied upon to last all night. As I wear dark-framed glasses I tend to hold back on eyeliner (as my eyes are already well framed) but added a bit of my Bobbi Brown Creamy Eye Pencil in Jet to my top & bottom waterlines. Lips I used Rimmel Electric Plum Lipstick and ended up topping with my mini Urban Decay lipgloss (the one you get with the Naked 2 palette- perfect small bag extra) on the way out the door.

On my nails I went for glitter from OPI’s Mariah Carey collection-popped a picture on Instragram if you fancy a nosey.

The wedding itself was lovely, beautiful venue, great band, lots of dancing, good friends and a very happy newly married couple. Also no hangover the next day which was rather nice- bad for my wallet though as I ended up going shopping. Look forward to a Highstreet/drugstore haul soon as I spent rather more than I should have in both Superdrug and Boots….oops! 🙂

I will be posting Tuesday,Thursdays & Sundays!
