Desert Metals Mascara by teeez Trendy Cosmetics

Desert Metals Mascara

I know I did a mascara review recently but I received this one in my You Beauty Discover box earlier this month and have really been impressed by the Desert Metals Mascara, so wanted to share.

I had never heard of the brand teeez Trend Cosmetics before so wasn’t sure what to expect. The Dutch company promise that this mascara which contains silk proteins which will protect and nourish your lashes. To be honest  I am not sure about these claims- what do you look for to know if it has now more nourished eyelash? Despite this I have been impressed.

The brush is a cone like shape, small at the tip getting progressively wider. The narrow tip makes it great for easily coating the outer most or inner most lashes. It is an intense black which I felt made my lashes appear longer and fuller. It didn’t create that ‘false lash’ effect but it is perfect for what I want from mascara. It did not smudge, lasted all day and was relatively easy to get off at the end of the day.

You can get this in various colours- I have Midnight Sky which is a strong black.

One sad point is that it is pretty expensive at around £17 and I found it hard to track down a UK stockist but you can get it at nelly.com. Hopefully, the brand will be stocked more widely in the future though as I really liked this product.

Has anyone tried anything else from this brand?

NYX Mega Shine Lip Gloss Review

NYX lipgloss

IMG_0436

I picked up this glossy Mega Shine trio when I was in New York last year and they are the only NYX product I have tried so far.  I love the simple packaging topped with a black bow on the lid. The creamy lip gloss glides on easily with a doe- foot applicator. They have a lovely sweet, sugary smell which can be enjoyed during application but doesn’t haunt you for the rest of the day. As far as that annoying lipgloss stickiness goes, these guys don’t have much of it yey!

From Top: Beige, Sugar Pie and Natural

From Top: Beige, Sugar Pie and Natural

The three colours are a great little trio as they are all quite different but all very wearable day-time appropriate with awesome shine. Beige is my favourite. Sugar Pie doesn’t give much colour but with the shine is enough to get noticed, it also works well over a matte lipstick. And Natural looks much better on than it does in the bottle, more red than brown tones when applied.

I have never seen NYX in the UK, but just learned while doing this post that they are stocked in Next! How did I miss this, will have to have  a look next time I am at the shops. What are you favourite NYX products? What should I try next?

I am really getting into Instagram– if you use it let me know wanted to use it to connect with more people- picture says a 1000 word and all that!

The Make-up Brands I Would Love to Try

Brands I would love to try

You may have gathered that I am a bit of a beauty addict and love to try new products. However, there are a number of brands that I have never tried first hand and am really lusting after at the moment. Here is a round of 9 beauty brands that are on my must try wishlist.

TopShop: I always stop by the make-up stand in-store but have yet to buy anything. Love the packaging of these products. My local store never has any testers open though which makes it harder to choose- holding out until I can swatch the colours before I purchase.

Sleek: A high street brand which has lots of interesting products, their blush in particular has attracted lots of positive chat on my Bloglovin feed and I really want to try it,

Dior: I have often stopped by  the Dior counter and am drawn to their eye shadow palettes and Dior Addict Lipgloss. However, other counters usually beckon me away before I part with my cash. (I’m looking at you Chanel counter!)

Tom Ford: A luxury brand that I haven’t had a chance to see up close but has some beautiful looking products, maybe one day?

MUA: I have never really paid much attention to this brand but have seen so many reviews recently of their amazingly prized products, I am now really intrigued. £1 for a lipstick is a bargain and will be picking one up soon to give it ago.

Models Own: Another drugstore brand, the launch of their Gel nail polishes has really peaked my interest and it competing with MUA for the first to be bought.

Hourglass: A brand which has recently come into my eye line, with all the buzz surrounding their new Ambient Lighting Blush. Unfortunately, it hasn’t made it this far north yet so not had a chance to swatch at a counter. Maybe its just me but if I am going to pay £30 for a blusher, I want to test it first to make sure I like it!

elf: I don’t know a huge amount about this brand but it keeps popping up with great looking products for not very much- a true Scottish lass- always drawn to a bargain!

Tarte: One that I haven’t been able  to get my hands on in the UK and have been wanting to try  their blushes for ages! They are now on their way to the UK via QVC so might soon be able to sample! Essie Button recently did a ‘Brand focus’ video on Tarte which is worth a look if you don’t know the brand

Have you tried any of these brands? What is your must try brand?

My Week Nailed: 3 nail polishes I loved this week.

Week in Nails

IMG_0476

I am a bit of a nail polish addict and thought I would give you a peak into my collection by sharing what I have been wearing on my nails this week.

First nail polish up, Wrapped in Rubies by Essie, this is a deep burgundy/bronze with a lovely gold shimmer undertone. It is one of those colours that I like better in the bottle than on the nail, although it is still very lovely on. It applies nicely and lasted okay- couple days of no chips without a topcoat.

Midweek, I switched to Seriously, It’s a Naan-issue, Sephora by OPI. It is a lovely deep slightly vampy purple with no shimmer but a wonderful shine in two coats. I also  just love its name- I always wonder who comes up with them would be an awesome job. If you were going to name a Nail Polish what would it be? I thought this one applied really well but didn’t last that great without a top coat. Was pretty cheap though and great colour so I can live with that.

Finally, for Valentines I went for  Animal-istic by OPI which paints on as a gorgeous bright red with an amazing gold shimmer. It really catches the eye and looked fab for date night. I think OPI nail polishes are brilliant, amazing colours and wear well- just wish they weren’t so expensive.

What have you been wearing on your nails this week? I usually share my nails of the day on instagram, also love checking out other people’s so if you are on Instagram let me know.

I post every Tuesday,Thursdays & Sunday.

Maybelline Colorsensational Shine Gloss

Stellar Berry

coloursensational- Stellar berry

I picked up the Maybelline ColorSensational Shine Gloss is a recent haul. I went for Stellar Berry (360) as I was attracted by its beautiful plum rich red colour. It is vibrant on the lips with a lovely shine.

This lipgloss smells amazing, a lovely clean fruity scent, which makes you want to taste it! It has a doe-foot applicator which glides the non-sticky gloss on nicely and without fuss. It contains honey nectar which means that it feels nourishing and doesn’t dry your lips.

The packaging, is not innovative but it is slim and light which is what you really want for throwing in your clutch on a night out. The lid allows seems to fit on well and nice and tight- so leakage is hopefully unlikely!

I picked this up in Superdrug for £6.19 but while preparing this post I found it on sale at Fragrance Direct for £1.99, not used this website before though- have you? I have seen lots of other bloggers hauls from it recently.

I will  be picking up this lipgloss in another colour, just have to decide which one!

Any plans for Valentines tomorrow? I have a wee date with the boyfriend planned, dinner and hopefully a drinkies.

BADgal Lash Mascara by Benefit Review

Badgal Lash

Badgal Lash Wand

BADgal Lash by Benefit is my current favourite mascara and has been for a while.  I have tried other things in between purchases but I have always come back to it. Basically, it just makes my lashes look great. It has a a lovely big brush which applies with no clumps and little fuss, which is what I need to ensure I make it out the door on time. It separates my lashes nicely while  adding volume and length with a beautiful jet black.  It works well for work  while an extra coat makes it perfect for evening/party time.

I wear glasses and feel it works well with them, false lash effect type mascaras are a bit much I find  and make my lashes touch the lens. BADgal Lash is just the write combo of full lashes that are glasses friendly.

IMG_0335

Other reviews I have read of this product have found that it flakes/smudges easily but this hasn’t been my experience, it has always lasted the day. It is also quite easy to take off with make-up remover which is wonderful after a late night.

Sadly, the one downside of this mascara is the price, it is expensive at £17.50 a pop. I would recommend keeping an eye on the House of Fraser brand sale, as Benefit is often included and I saved a few £ on my last purchase thanks to this.

What is your favourite mascara?

I now have a facebook page,  I would love it if you checked it out.

I will be posting Tuesday,Thursdays & Sundays!

All About the Dreaming, Beauty Wishlist

Wishlist January 26

I love a bit of online window shopping and dreaming about the products I want or just think are pretty! My wishlist is ever growing, reading my bloglovin feed is constant a inspiration of products I want to try or looks I want to recreate.

I love a neutral eye palette, the Urban Decay Naked 1&2 have been my faithful friends for a long time. However, I really want to get another one and this  8 shade palette  has caught my eye.The packaging is said to be super lightweight and slimline which attracted me also.
Love the Topshop packaging, not tried any of their make up line- really want to! Green pastel glitter as I have nothing similar in my rather large nail polish collection
More Clinique, my purse wont like this! In a deep blackend raisin colour, I spotted this on a blog and thought it was lovely,
Shimmery brush on lovelyness from Bobbi Brown.
Great reviews for a drugstore lipgloss and I really want a wonderful red lipgloss.
I have heard so many bloggers rave about this product for so long, I now really really want it! Love Nars packaging, slimline, elegant and perfect for the travel make up bag.
Lusting after lots of lip products this month. Loved the last lip butter I picked up in a recent haul and want to add to my collection. If you haven’t tried the lip butters, they are lovely to apply.
I read so many beauty blogs and am inspired to try so many products as I read them but don’t seem to have a good way of remembering/prioritizing when it comes to buying- how does everyone else do it?

I will be posting Tuesday,Thursdays & Sundays!
