Mini High Street Haul

Drugstore Haul

I know what you are thinking, I thought UmbrellaMonday was on a spending ban, and you would be right, I just had a few moments of weakness, and it was my birthday weekend so thought what the hey I’m gonna treat myself. And I could have gone ALOT more crazy….so you could say this is really proof of my self restraint…. : )

It all started with a trip to  Boots pick up a Sleek blusher but the store in town doesn’t have a stand for them, so ended up browsing what else was on offer. Picked up a few things from brands I rarely buy from.

Grabbed the Collection Bronze Glow Ultimate. I am naturally very pale so always been a little scared of bronzer, as in the past they have been far too dark for my skin. As such I have been very loyal to my BodyShop Bronzer since I discovered it offer lighter shade options. Anyhoo I swatched this in store and am hopeful it will give the sunkissed glow promised.

Next, I grabbed a few Revlon products, I wanted Colourburst Lacquer Balm and after much deliberation picked 105 which is a lovely soft/subtle pink. It was two products for £10 in Boots, so I figured I might as well get something else. Picked up Revlon Lash Potion, Mascara, which should have been £9.99 so bargain to get it for just a few pounds. I haven’t opened this yet as few mascara on the go I want to finish, but will let you know how I get on when I do.

I also popped to the Yankee Candle Store as I wanted some scented tea lights- went for Summer Scoop which is lovely Strawberries and Cream scent- perfect for summer. I wanted the tea lights as I picked up the cutest set of 4 Sherry Glasses for £3 in a charity shop  which will make the nicest candle holders. Tried them out this evening and  they look fab on my mantle-place, they will look even better come the dark winter nights.

Talking of charity shop finds, I also found a total bargain of a dress. Brand new with tags navy blue lace party dress from Dorothy Perkins for only £6! I shared a pic on instagram (Umbrellamonday is my user name) if you fancy a noisy.

What have you been buying lately? Are a charity shop bargain lover too?

Sleek Pink Lemonade Blush Trio Review

Sleek Blush

I have heard much chatter about Sleek and particularly their blushes recently.  Blush is an beauty product I have not explored or experimented with that much over the years especially compared to my bulging collection of lip/eye products. This is something I want to change and I thought a Sleek Blush by 3 would be a good starting point.

Sleek Blush- Pink Lemonade

Pink Mint, Macaroon, Icing Sugar

After much deliberation at the Sleek stand, I went for the Pink Lemonade trio, with two  powder blushes and a cream. Love the name of each shade, together they are a wonderful fairground of pink yum. First up there is Icing Sugar, my favourite of the three with a  frosted golden coral pink. Macaroon is the cream blush shade in a classic medium pink. It blends well but be careful in application as it is very easy to apply too much on first application. (although fixing it was pretty easy). Finally, Pink Mint is a beautiful shimmery pink which I really like, but you will see from the swatches it might not be the best of itself against my pale pale skin. It seems to get bit lost against by Scottish whiteness but for work I like a subtle colour. I have layered this colour over the others for a nice effect- adds shimmer and warmth.

Sleek Blush Pink Lemonade Swatches

Package wise it is a nice size for a trio, very portable with a good size mirror which is handy if you are doing your make-up on the move. Overall, this is a great wee trio especially for the price!

What Blush would you recommend for me to try next?

Umbrella Monday Chats

Yellow Rose

Another week has past and main thing you might have noticed on UmbrellaMonday, is I started posting again!  I have missed it and glad to be back. I wish I could say I stopped as I was off on some great adventure- nothing quite as exciting as that in reality unfortunately, but we can pretend….I have been off taming lions in the Sahara and the wifi hub got eaten by a rather unruly cub. Despite a few scratches it was great : ) Lots of posts planned so hope you will stick around to read them.

It has been a quiet and lazy week generally. I’ve continued to be successful in avoiding the World Cup, helped greatly by the boyfriend heading off to Spain for a lads holiday, not many games left so should hopefully make it through without watching a match.

I had a lovely girly catch up on Sunday to celebrate a friend’s birthday, complete with Cava and a few Gins. We planned a few more nights out for July which could test the shopping ban as I really want a new dress to wear! Will try to be good and dig out something old. Shopping my stash in terms of beauty is going well, enjoying rediscovering old gems and sticking to my little box of picks mentioned earlier my earlier post.

I hit 100 followers on Twitter last night which I am very pleased with, if you are one of them thanks! If you aren’t I’d love you to join the gang @Umbrellamonday

Do you like my Yellow rose pictured above? Picked up a bunch last week, they are past their best but still beautiful in their old age.

I haven’t done a chatty type post like this before, let me know if you liked it/hated it or have any suggestions.

Dubai Sephora Make-up Haul #2

Sephora Haul

I shared the first part of my Sephora Haul from my Dubai holiday in a post early this week and showed you all the Marc Jacobs items I picked up. Here is part two  of the Make-up Haul and  the other bits I picked up- I went a bit crazy I know, think I need to ban myself from any more purchases for a while!

Sephora and Bare Minerals Eye Shadow Palette

First up, I picked up the, Bare Minerals READY Eyeshadow quad: The A List.  I was drawn to this as I love the Bare Minerals Mineral foundation and have not tried the READY shadows before. I also dont don’t have many purple/pink shades so is a bit different for me.

Next, I picked up from Sephora’s on range, Spring in Soho Eye, Cheek and Lip Palette. It has a lovely contract of soft pastels and nudes in a travel friendly container. It has 8 eye shades with 4 lip colours and  a blush tucked in a drawer under the eyeshadows. It looked like a good one to shove in the work make-up bag for use before Friday drinks as it is lovely and compact.

OPI Liquid Sand Nail Polish

So, OPI nail polishes were much cheaper than elsewhere so I was instantly drawn to their stand. I hadn’t tried the Liquid Sand polishes before  but picked up Tiffany Case a wonderful bright blue glitter – everyone should own it! .I loved it so much when I picked up more from the range the next day. Alcatraz Rocks, Get your Number and Stay the Night were lucky enough to be picked.  Also picked up Purple with a Purpose from the standard range.

Sephora Bronzer and Make-up Brushes

Also bought from a shimmer bronzer in Sunkissed bronze from the Sephora range. I have fair skin and this seems to suit me well, bit of colour and a touch of shimmer.

Finally, I picked up 3 new brushes as my collection needed some additions. Got a Concealer brush, a rounded crease brush and a lip brush.

Not from Sephora but also purchased in Dubai- this time at the airport. Mac Lustre Lipstick in See Sheer and Revlon, Just Bitten Kissable in Sweetheart Valentine.

As I mentioned before I had a great trip and thoroughly enjoyed my shop in Sephora cant wait to use everything!

Dubai Sephora Haul #1: Marc Jacobs Make-up

IMG_0943

Hello! I am back from an wonderful holiday with my boyfriend to the UAE, had such a brilliant, relaxing but fun packed time. We were in both Abu Dhabi and Dubai- I might do a post about the trip if people are interested?

I of course visited Sephora while there, went to the one in the Dubai Mall- which is the best shopping mall ever. I thought I would divide my haul into two parts as I bought quite alot (oops!)and I think the Marc Jacobs products are soo beautiful that they deserve their own post.

I was desperate to take a look at the Marc Jacob’s make-up as you can’t get into in the UK and I love Marc Jacobs Perfume (you can see my collection here) so had high hopes for it.

Firstly the packaging of all of their products is amazing, so simple, sleek yet sophisticated. Each one comes in a little cloth pouch which I haven’t included in the photo.

Marc Jacobs Pressed Powder

My first purchase was the Perfection Powder in Bique which promises to be a featherweight foundation. The case has a huge mirror which I love- will be great for make-up on the go. I have only tried this as a finishing powder so far and loved it.

Marc Jacob Shameless Blush

The Shameless Bold Blush in Reckless is wonderful subtle pink with a slight purple-ish undertone.

Marc Jacobs Studded Kiss lipgloss

This lipgloss  from the Lust for Lacquer in Studded Kiss is gorgeous a beautiful dark berry with a bit of shimmer.  I have only worn in once so far and loved it.

Mark Jacob Lolita

The Lotlita Eye shadow palette caught my attention on a number of blogs and I loved it up close. My lovely boyfriend was kind enough to buy it for me. It holds 7 neutral colours in a slimline case-3 matte/4 shimmer, on a first play with the colours I think it will be a new favourite for everyday.

I suspect that full reviews on all these products will follow. The rest of Sephora Dubai haul will be up on Thursday.

My Travel Make-up bag

IMG_0623

I’m in Abu Dhabi, heading to Dubai in a couple days. Wanted to share my travel make-up bag with you. I tried- some what unsuccessfully- to limit what I packed as I know I will buy new products during the trip which I will want to use straight away. I am also aware that I will be eating out in fancy places so want to have options with me so I can go with what makes me feel good on any night

IMG_0641

For eyes, I have my sights set on a new neutral  palette so leaving Naked 2 at home for the first time since I got it! Instead I packed, from No7 the Good Earth Trio and Matte Maroon. I also packed Rimmel Scandeleyes in Rich Russett and Color Tattoo in On and On Bronze. Finally, YSL Pure Chromatics 9 which is all I need at the moment for night time eyes. Mascara is my trusty BADgal Lash by Benefit (full review)

As I wear quite bold glasses I don’t do much in terms of eyeliner so just taking a nude NARS and Bobbi Brown Cream Eye liner in Jet.

IMG_0638

Foundation I have packed Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua which I love and is close to being finished so want to use it up. Also taking my YSL Touche Eclat Foundation which is my current favourite. Rimmel Stay Matte as my powder with Collection 2000 Concealer along for the journey too.

Only packed one blush in L’oreal in Sandalwood Pink as I don’t own many and I know I will pick up new ones during the trip- this one is just to tide me over. Bodyshop Bronzer in Light Matte to add colour to my skin which won’t tan (I’m very fair and it is stay white or burn!)

IMG_0644

Brushes are another area I plan to buy new stuff in so just packed my Real Techniques Blush Brush, Powder Brush and Shading brush along with a No7 blending brush and Sephora shading brush.

IMG_0667

Okay, so I defiantly could have packed less lip products but I found it hard to choose and as I have been quite conservative when it comes  o eyes I want to be able to dress up the look in the evenings with a fab lip. Anyway they are very small in the grand scheme of packing…..

Mac Sheen Supreme Lipglass in Sweet Bean, for a natural gloss or to add some shine to matte lips. Urban Decay Lip Junkie Lipgloss in Peroxide and the wee one gloss that came with Naked 2 are also packed. Maybelline Colorsensationbal Shine Gloss in Stellar Berry (Full review) added for bolder red lips.

IMG_0655

Lipsticks I chose a range which would give me natural to dark to bright pink with Bobbi Brown Plum Rose, Chanel Rouge Coco 20, Natural Collection Pink Orchid, Revlon Pink Truffle, Rimmel Electric Plum

IMG_0626 IMG_0672_

For my travel make-up bag, I use this awesome giant one from Sephora.  It also has compartments for toiletries, a pocket for jewellery  on the back and space for anything else I need in one handy place. It has a hook so can be hung while travelling- handy as I often find hotel bathrooms have limited counter space. I keep my make-up in the middle section as it is detachable so can be easily transported to the best mirror in the room when I am getting ready.

What is your travel make-up essential?

I was going to put up some pics etc of my holiday- not sure if folks are interested tho? Let me know!
