realTechniques Powder Brush: Review

Powder Brush

The RealTechniques Powder Brush is the latest addition to my brush collection and I thought I would do a short review for you. There are so many brushes on the market at different price points and it can be a challenge to decide which ones can do what you need within your budget.

I would love to have a shiny matching set of brushes but I just can’t justify the spend all at once, as a result of  brush collection is a mis-match of brands and quality, that I have added to keep up with my expanding collection of cosmetics.

RealTechniques Powder Brush

Basics of the Brush

  • The brush is made by Sam Chapman (pixiwoo) who you may have seen on YouTube
  • It is made with sythetic bristles and promises to be 100% cruelty free.
  • It can stand on it’s end as with all the brushed in this range. So you can line them up all pretty on your dressing table if you have one (I don’t sadly).
  • The name of the brush is printed on the handle which is useful especially if you are still learning about make-up & brushes.
  • If you are new to this type of brush or just want to learn more realTechinques have a how to video on  their website.

Things I like about it

  • This brush is soooo fluffy it feels lovely to dust against your face.
  • It is a nice weight, easy to hold and grip.
  • Coverage- it picks up just the right about of product and allows you to sweep it evenly across your face. I have been using this mainly with my finishing power (current favourite is Rimmel Stay Matte) but I have also used this with my bronzer.
  • The head of the brush is nice and big which is what I want in a powder brush, I have taken a picture which it next to a Rimmel Nail  scale.

Overall, I am very pleased with this brush and would purchase another from the range, as I think in terms of quality vs price this brush is great.

I picked my brush up from Amazon  for £8.34+free P&P but you can purchase in lots of other places including Boots & Superdrug.

Anyway hope you enjoyed this quick review, what is your favourite make-up brush?

Japanese Cherry Blossom Body Butter

Can’t believe here we are at Tuesday again! Got good stuff on this weekend with a wedding and a Rum tasting class, so wishing for the it already! I did join google+ over the last few days, I know I am a bit slow to the party, still trying to work it out! If you use it would appreciate tips!

Now on to the review, I go through phases with body butters, I am either using one religiously or not at all. My current favourite is the Japanese Cherry Blossom one from the Bodyshop.

I used to love the Bodyshop when I was in my early teens, bath pearls which could be bought pick n’ mix were style popular stop on the Saturday trip to the shops with friends. These are long gone now and I like the new Bodyshop and its body butters galore. When browsing in store, I am usually attracted to the gorgeous fruity scents such as Mango and Passion Fruit. However, when I actually come to use the product although I love them as I apply, I don’t enjoy smelling of passion fruit or similar all day- I know that might sound a little weird!

This body butter as a much fresher, floral smell which is enjoyable when applied but doesn’t overpower later in the day. It fades away nicely to make way for perfume.

The cream itself is lovely and thick. I usually apply it when I am just out the shower and my skin is still slightly wet to lock in the moisture. It blends easily and is absorbed quickly. I have found that it has made a difference to my skin. I used to have small dry patches on my upper arms and these are now gone since using this product. It also gives my body an all over soft feeling. It has lasted really well as you don’t need that much to butter up!

If you are going to shop at the Bodyshop make sure you have a wee search for a discount code, they always seem have promotions either online or in store. I actually got this one free as part of a buy a product get a body butter free promotion they had in the summer.

What is your favourite body butter?

Hello Flawless Foundation Oxygen Wow Review

Hello Flawless Foundation

Hello Flawless Foundation Oxygen Wow Brightening Makeup is it me your looking for? I was swooped upon by a lovely Benefit consultant on a recent weekend in Edinburgh and given the chance to try Benefits first every liquid foundation.

To be honest I didn’t really need a new foundation (not that ‘need’, makeup and me often go together) but I was impressed with this one and fancied a splurge.
I have not tried many Benefit products as I tend to gravitate to other brands, although the BADgal Lash is an old faithful mascara of mine. I have however always enjoyed their lovely modern and informal approach to packaging which is reflected in this foundation The pump action release is much appreciated and ensures I only get just what you need- wasting expensive foundation is never good!
Of the 9 shades I was matched with Ivory, which I think is the lightest of the shade.
I usually prefer to apply liquid foundation with my fingers for a natural finish and this foundation guides on easily without too much fuss, blending in rather effortlessly. Got good application with a brush also though. It offers a light to medium coverage which can be built up where needed. Its has a matte finish which I prefer and leaves a flawless skin finish.
My only negative is that this foundation isn’t as long wearing as I would like. I would recommend using a primer/setting powder with this to increase wear.
