Urban Decay All Nighter- Make- up Setting Spray Review

Urban Decay Finishing Spray- Long Lasting

Urban Decay Long Lasting Setting Finishing Spray, promises to make my make- up last all night.  I have seen setting sprays over the years and always thought they were a extra ‘fancy’ step in make- up routines of beauty gurus that wasn’t really needed. However, I hate getting home from a night out or a long day, going to remove my foundation and finding there is hardly anything left to take off, so I decided to enter the world of finishing sprays and see what happened.

I did a bit of research and decided to try this one, I have not had much experience with Urban Decay, I have Naked 1 & 2- which I love,  but have tried nothing else. (I have been hearing a lot of chatter about the Naked concealer though- has anyone tried that?)

The packaging is simple and practical, although quite large which is good and bad- lots of product but not handy for travel. To use you just spray from about 8-10 inches away in a ‘X’ and/or ‘T’ shape, with one spritz per axis.  It is very wet when you spray and it is kinda weird to be honest- much more liquid than  the mist I expected. My first reaction was to look in the mirror to see where my make up had been smudged by it- the answer none of it moved!

It dries really quickly, I had originally wanted the ‘Cooling and Hydrating’ version but when I swatched  at the counter, I found that it took a long time to dry while the ‘All Nighter’ melted to feel like nothing on your skin in seconds.

Was it worth it? This is the only setting spray I have ever tried but….. it did make me make-up last longer as promised.

I would not say that this is an essential step in the make up routine but it is a nice add on, with little time or effort for a good pay off. The product is expensive but I feel given that you use so little each time it will last a while.  Had anyone else tried it?

High Street Make-up Haul

Make up Haul

Make up palettes and blushers galore! I had a day off on Friday and had a desire to go crazy make-up shopping for the first time in a while.

I got new glasses last week and since I started to wear them I have been more aware then ever of my eyebrows and the need to do more with them. So the Sleek Brow kit was on my shopping list as it is a dupe for the Benefits one and I wanted to try something new but with a friendlier price tag.

I also picked up 3 eye shadow palettes. Lately I have felt like I don’t have any day time eye-shadows that I love, all my favs have been super pretty but shimmery night out colours. I am hoping that these 3 can become work day staples. I picked the MUA Elysium Palatte, which I think is a dupe for Naked 3. I have had a quick play with it and really like the pinky toned colours so far. Although some may be a bit to shimmery for work but I cant be all work now can I!

MUA Elysium Palette

Also got the Make up Revolution Redemption Palette Essential mattes palette. As it says on the the tin- no shimmer in sight! Third is the Sleek Au Natural 601 with 12 neutral shades, some with shimmer most with out, I think this is my least favourite of the three I picked up but I will report back.

Picked up two blushes, did an audit of my blusher stash recently and noticed that I mostly have pink shades and really wanted to try so more coral coloured one. The Revlon, Classy Coral got the honour of being my first coral shade. Also grade a Makeup revolution blush in Treat as it was only £1!

Rimmel Coral Blush

Repurchased the Rimmel Stay Matter powder as it is brilliant and so affordable! Only thing I do wish is that it had a mirror so could be taken out and about more easily. Finally,  I really wanted a new concealer, with base type products I am pretty unadventurous but after quite a bit of research on the bloggersphere I chose the Maybelline, the Eraser Eye in light.

Drugstore Haul

I know what you are thinking, I thought UmbrellaMonday was on a spending ban, and you would be right, I just had a few moments of weakness, and it was my birthday weekend so thought what the hey I’m gonna treat myself. And I could have gone ALOT more crazy….so you could say this is really proof of my self restraint…. : )

It all started with a trip to  Boots pick up a Sleek blusher but the store in town doesn’t have a stand for them, so ended up browsing what else was on offer. Picked up a few things from brands I rarely buy from.

Grabbed the Collection Bronze Glow Ultimate. I am naturally very pale so always been a little scared of bronzer, as in the past they have been far too dark for my skin. As such I have been very loyal to my BodyShop Bronzer since I discovered it offer lighter shade options. Anyhoo I swatched this in store and am hopeful it will give the sunkissed glow promised.

Next, I grabbed a few Revlon products, I wanted Colourburst Lacquer Balm and after much deliberation picked 105 which is a lovely soft/subtle pink. It was two products for £10 in Boots, so I figured I might as well get something else. Picked up Revlon Lash Potion, Mascara, which should have been £9.99 so bargain to get it for just a few pounds. I haven’t opened this yet as few mascara on the go I want to finish, but will let you know how I get on when I do.

I also popped to the Yankee Candle Store as I wanted some scented tea lights- went for Summer Scoop which is lovely Strawberries and Cream scent- perfect for summer. I wanted the tea lights as I picked up the cutest set of 4 Sherry Glasses for £3 in a charity shop  which will make the nicest candle holders. Tried them out this evening and  they look fab on my mantle-place, they will look even better come the dark winter nights.

Talking of charity shop finds, I also found a total bargain of a dress. Brand new with tags navy blue lace party dress from Dorothy Perkins for only £6! I shared a pic on instagram (Umbrellamonday is my user name) if you fancy a noisy.

What have you been buying lately? Are a charity shop bargain lover too?

Sleek Pink Lemonade Blush Trio Review

Sleek Blush

I have heard much chatter about Sleek and particularly their blushes recently.  Blush is an beauty product I have not explored or experimented with that much over the years especially compared to my bulging collection of lip/eye products. This is something I want to change and I thought a Sleek Blush by 3 would be a good starting point.

Sleek Blush- Pink Lemonade

Pink Mint, Macaroon, Icing Sugar

After much deliberation at the Sleek stand, I went for the Pink Lemonade trio, with two  powder blushes and a cream. Love the name of each shade, together they are a wonderful fairground of pink yum. First up there is Icing Sugar, my favourite of the three with a  frosted golden coral pink. Macaroon is the cream blush shade in a classic medium pink. It blends well but be careful in application as it is very easy to apply too much on first application. (although fixing it was pretty easy). Finally, Pink Mint is a beautiful shimmery pink which I really like, but you will see from the swatches it might not be the best of itself against my pale pale skin. It seems to get bit lost against by Scottish whiteness but for work I like a subtle colour. I have layered this colour over the others for a nice effect- adds shimmer and warmth.

Sleek Blush Pink Lemonade Swatches

Package wise it is a nice size for a trio, very portable with a good size mirror which is handy if you are doing your make-up on the move. Overall, this is a great wee trio especially for the price!

What Blush would you recommend for me to try next?

Pretty in Pink Lips

IMG_1059-1

The summer sunshine (long may it last) has inspired me to break out the pink lipstick.  Pink is one of my favourite colours, bright vibrant pink the best of all. I love a pink lipcolour when wearing  my big sunglasses  as they give colour while my eye-make-up hidden away. If you are interested I did a post on my new (well newish now) Fendi sunglasses which I am completely in love with. The 5 product pictured are the Pinks I have been reaching for (apart from this week of course as I am on a limited Shop my Stash challenge)

In no particular order, I have Natural Collection Moisture Shine in Pink Orchid. If you aren’t sure about a bright pink lip this is a fab one to try as at around £2 you don’t risk much if you don’t love it/wear often.  It has a slight metallic undertone which I won’t usually go for but it works here.

An other favourite of mine is Revlon Just Bitten Kissable in Sweetheart. This is the first of the crayon lipsticks I bought and I really like the easy application, especially in the heat . It also smells of lovely minty goodness, definitely the best scented lipstick in my collection.

My love of bold lips does get curbed on work days- not sure my workplace could handle it or maybe I just need a bit more confidence to pull it off. For work days I gravitate to my Chanel lipsticks which provide a softer pretty pink lip. I know I have said it before but I do love Chanel packaging, it so elegant. The two pictured are Aventure which offers high shine and Magnolia a  rosier colour.

Finally, the newest pink in my collection  is Sleek Gloss Me in Rose which provides a high shine pink with an almost rosegold shimmer undertone. Sleek is a new brand to me, I have heard lots about it and a recent offer in Boots finally got me to part with my cash. Impressed so far. Minor point but I really enjoy the square packaging, stops it rolling away- so simple yet so haandy when applying make-up on the move!

What is your favourite pink lip products?

Make-up Brush Roll

Image

I had been looking for a pretty make-up brush roll for a while when I came across this one on Etsy a few months ago and wanted to share it with you. It is a simple design, flower patterned fabric, stitched to make slots for 11 brushes of difference sizes- this was an important factor as many of those I say didn’t my fav Powder Brush (review).

 Make up Brush roll

It rolls up nicely and secured by ribbon for travel/storage. It is big enough to hold the brushes I use most so it is used  for everyday brush storage in the house along with on the go. It just makes life easier to find/grab brushes as needed while keeping them tidy. It handy I stay at my boyfriends half the week so I can get grab it without having to think through what brushes I need to match the make-up I am taking.

Make up brush roll

Also handy, you can wash it if it gets a bit make-up grubby My only small criticism would be I wish  the slots for the bigger brush were on the opposite side from the ribbon ties (so they are in the middle when rolled) as I think it would roll up neat/prettier, with of big brush bristles popping out.

How do you all store your most used makeup brushes?

Shopping my Stash

IMG_1005

Hello old friend, its been awhile hasn’t it! I’ve still be servicing my beauty addiction and have lots of things to lovely things to share with you. Life just got busy, its still busy but I miss my little blog so putting it higher up the list again, lots of posts planned, hope you stick around to read them,

Keep me busy this month are a few exciting things including attending the Commonwealth Games and a girlie holiday to Denmark. As both of these require quite a few pennies, I am on a spending ban when it comes to make-up. As part of this I am ‘shopping my stash’ this month, digging out old favs and recently bought gems. I have decided to pull out a few items which will be the only make-up I use for the week (or two) and then swap/restock from my collection. I am hoping this will also help me use up a few things as the old make-up collection is getting a little out of hand.  An old glossybox is handy storage  for this weeks items.

For my face, I have Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua and a pretty battered looking Collection Concealer  both which I had a while and are close to being finished- really keen to use them up to make room for new things. Also Benefits Porefessional and Rimmel Stay Matte made the box, I have talked about before- reliable staples.

IMG_1015

Blusher, I added my recently bought Sleek palette in the lovely name ‘Pink Lemonade’ which has 3 fab options which I haven’t tested properly yet- excited for that. Also a MUA pink blush, don’t really need it as well but its small so handy for carrying. Of course needed a Bronzer, so my pale pale skin looks like it has experience abit of summer- using a BodyShop one.

IMG_1017

For eyes, I went pretty simple in my choices as I don’t wear alot of make-up to work. A good rummage in my stash I pulled out a wee Bobbie Brown Quad which I used to love but has been overshadowed (teehee) by shiny new things. Also grabbed  Rimmel Scandaleyes in Rich Russet as is quick to apply, great for early mornings. Decided need a  bit of colour,so I don’t get bored- No7 Matte Maroon is a great purple colour which adds an extra dimension to a smoky eye. Limited myself to one mascara- BadGal Lash which I love and really needs to be used up as had this bottle opened a while.

Lips was the hardest one to shop my stash for and I originally had heaps of options. Forced myself to pick just two for this week: Revlon, Lip Butter in Macroon and a Chanel Lip gloss (181). I really like Chanel’s packaging always so elegant.

I have actually really enjoyed just having my wee box to pick from in the mornings before works, less decisions to be made. Might starting missing the options come Saturday night.
